With just three minutes on stage for contestants to get their point across, FameLab is high-stakes science at its best. Expertly hosted by *Greg Foot*, judged by *Robin Ince*, *Becky Smethurst* and *Jaideep Gupte*, eight finalists from across the UK will compete for the title of FameLab UK Champion and the chance to represent their country in the FameLab International Final against 22 other countries. Join us online to vote for your favourite and prepare to have your mind blown by some amazing bite-sized science.
Dr Becky Smethurst is an astrophysicist at the University of Oxford (Christ Church) studying supermassive black holes and their effects on galaxies. She is also an incredibly enthusiastic science communicator and chats all things space on her YouTube channel, Dr Becky, which has over 230,000 subscribers. An ambassador for women in science, she likes to show people how nothing is mutually exclusive with being a scientist.
Dr Jaideep Gupte is Fellow of the Institute of Development Studies, University of Sussex. Formerly a Prize Fellow of the Urban Design Research Institute, Mumbai, Jaideep researches the material, temporal, political and technological aspects of urban informality. Jaideep leads the Cities and Sustainable Infrastructure Portfolio of the Global Challenges Research Fund (GCRF), and acts as a champion for ODA research on the Built Environment for UK Research and Innovation (UKRI).
Robin Ince is best known as a comedian and populariser of scientific ideas. He is the creator and co-host of the podcast Robin and Josie’s Book Shambles, which gains over 100,000 hits a month, as well as the weekly music podcast with Michael Legge, Vitriola, which mixes nonsense, arguments and discussions on the latest music releases. He continues to present the Sony Gold Award winning BBC Radio 4 series The Infinite Monkey Cage with Professor Brian Cox and has toured solo shows about consciousness, Charles Darwin, and physics.
Greg Foot is an award-winning Science Broadcaster on TV & Radio, a successful Podcaster, a popular YouTuber, and an experienced Presenter & Producer. He helps brands share their science stories and delivers Keynotes & Spectacular Science Shows on stages around the world.
