Citizen Science: Counting Rare Fish

Help count shad and become a citizen science hero!

The shad is an endangered fish that migrates up the River Severn each spring. Unfortunately, since the industrial revolution, man-made barriers have blocked their journey. But things are looking up for the shad and Unlocking the Severn needs your help to monitor their annual migration on the River Severn.

By counting the number of fish successfully swimming upstream over a notch in Tewkesbury weir, your data will help our scientists learn more about this rare fish.

With new videos released exclusively for Cheltenham Science Festival, why not give it a go and see if you can make it onto the leader board!
